Running Screen2Auto on Android 15
Android 15 introduces granular media projection controls and strict notifications security. Learn how to optimize Screen2Auto mirroring and resolve casting dialogue loops.
Important Notice: Media Projection Changes
Android 15 defaults media projection permissions to "Single App" sharing to prevent data leaks. When launching Screen2Auto, you must select "Share entire screen". Selecting a single app will break the launcher flow and cause a black screen.
Additionally, Google has removed the option to save consent, meaning you will have to click "Start now" on the screen-sharing prompt every time you connect your phone to the car display.
Android 15 Setup Process
Complete setup instructions for Android 15 devices (Pixel, Samsung, etc.).
Get AAAD
Install AAAD to sideload third-party apps outside Play Store boundaries.
Install Screen2Auto
Install Screen2Auto from the AAAD list. Sideloading handles the package signing so that Android Auto will execute it.
Bypass Sideload Warnings
Android 15 triggers warnings for sideloaded accessibility apps. Bypass this via the "Restricted Settings" override: open App Info, tap the top-right menu, and select "Allow Restricted Settings."
Select Share Entire Screen
When connecting your phone, select "Share entire screen" in the casting dialog to authorize full mirroring on the dashboard.
Android 15 Known Issues
Be aware of these security and display limitations on Android 15.
Casting Dialog Loop
The OS asks to authorize screen recording every single connection. This cannot be turned off natively due to Android 15 core design.
Blank Screen on Lock
Locking your phone screen turns off the mirror screen. In Screen2Auto settings, enable "Keep screen on" or select a low brightness overlay.
Single App Distortion
Selecting a single application rather than full screen sharing distorts resolution and prevents touch controls from working correctly.
